Historic Downtown Adairsville

A visit to this "Norman Rockwell" kind of town is a must for anyone who loves history, antiquing, and good food! We offer free visitor information on Historic Adairsville and neighboring Georgia communities. Browse the Adairsville Depot History Museum to learn local history detailing Adairsville's role in the Civil War's Great Locomotive Chase and beyond. Adairsville, nestled in the Oothcalooga Valley, was the first Georgia town to be listed in its entirety on the National Register of Historic Places (December 1987).

The Adairsville Downtown Development Authority was established in 1987 in accordance with the Georgia Downtown Development Authority Act. Under the act, the purpose of the Authority is to revitalize and redevelop the central business district of the City of Adairsville by promoting trade, commerce, industry, and employment opportunities.
