Community Development Department
The Community Development Department analyzes and enforces land use-related issues in the city, including accepting citizen requests, providing land use data, and processing applications.
Variance & Zoning (Annexation, Rezoning, Special Use)
-
City Community Development will be glad to work with an applicant to confirm that all details of a case application are completed. The fee varies by type of case and proposed zoning.
-
Zoning-related cases have local and State advertising requirements, resulting in a process that takes a few months from the start of the process to date of the decision by the City Council.
-
Variance cases include advertising requirements and the process may take two months or longer depending on certain factors such as if a case is tabled. The decision is made by the Unified Zoning Board.
-
Zoning-related cases and Variance cases are not guaranteed. The applicant or knowledgeable representative needs to attend all public meetings.
